With the growing adoption of autonomous handling equipment (AGVs, AMRs) in logistics centres and production plants, new demands are emerging for industrial floors — particularly regarding surface regularity.
While it is unrealistic to expect concrete paving to match the dimensional precision of rectified steel, by applying more science and less craftsmanship, we can ensure that concrete continues to offer a high-performance, sustainable solution for the needs of Logistics 4.0.
Surface Regularity: Flatness and Horizontality
Surface regularity is defined by two key properties:
Flatness: Refers to short-wavelength variations on the surface.
Horizontality: Describes the slope or inclination of the paving.

When measuring surface regularity, three characteristics are essential:
Accuracy: The closeness of a measurement to the true or accepted value.
Precision: The consistency of repeated measurements under the same conditions.
Resolution: The smallest detectable difference between two measurement values, reflecting the sensitivity of the instrument.
